Always Be Humble

Ephesians 4:2 NLT
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love.

So often in this world today we expect everyone to be on the same page. We expect them to think like us and act like us. And when they do not agree with our thinking, we think they are strange or that they have a problem.

As a result of this wrong thinking the country is divided by a large chasm with one kind of thinking on one side and the other kind on the other. And I am not just talking about politics. That problem is obvious. In all things we are lined up with thinking that has been programmed into us over the years by what we listen to, what we watch, and who we associate with. We are conditioned to think the way we think instead of truly thinking for ourselves.

Yet if we are believers and believe the Bible is filled with God's words for us we can easily figure out what we should do and who we should or should not line up our thinking with. And it is more than just that cute phrase from a few years ago--what would Jesus do?

If we would just do as this scripture in Ephesians tells us how different our world would be. The enemy works hard to prevent us from being humble and gentle and patient. Before we react to others we need to step back and think. Am I being patient making allowance for their faults? Am I seeing them through Jesus' eyes or my own? Do I walk out with an attitude with aggression toward others or do I walk in humility and gentleness?

Lord, help me to become who You designed me to be.
