Make Disciples

Jesus told us to go and preach the gospel, to make disciples. He was speaking to you and me, to ordinary men and women. And because of the relationship we have with Him, others will recognize us as men and women that have been with Jesus. ~ DickEvans.org

Not The Same

We Are Not All The Same. God created us unique. No two are made the same. No two have the same DNA. Even twins are different in some way.

We each have different fingerprints and different ears. Never mind our likes and dislikes or our natural skills.

If we go to something as simple as a yard sale, we head to a different arrangement of stuff.

Even what we eat. Go to a banquet and some are drawn to the appetizers, some to the main course, some to the deserts, and others hang around the beverages.

We are all created in the image and likeness of God and are all different in our appearances and in our likes.

1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:7-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Our gifts vary. Some are called... but Holy Spirit can use us at any time in any gift for His purpose.

As born again believers, we all have the same spirit of Christ. Jesus had the Father send the comforter to us when we first believed.

At that instant in time, we were born again and our unique spirit and the Holy Spirit became blended into a unique spirit with all of Him and all of who God made us to be, never to be separated.

It is like adding cream to your coffee. Or like baking an apple pie with apples, sugar, and a pie crust. Before baking, they are still separate parts. Once baked they become one, an apple pie. Once done you can’t separate the parts.

Each born again believer has all of Jesus and is unique in who they are. The two are one.

The power and authority are the same in each of us. We have all of Jesus and as Holy Spirit manifests through us the result is unique and the results miraculous.

Believe it and receive it.

We Missed It

Sometimes what we want to do for God is not what God has for us to do. We feel great about doing the work we do in His name, but we missed it. Let’s take the time today to try to understand what the Lord has for us to do. ~ DickEvans.org

Invade The Darkness

Like a candle placed in the middle of a dark room, the presence of Holy Spirit in us can light up the darkest places exposing the evil deeds that are found there. But it is up to us to invade that darkness; it will not come to us. ~ DickEvans.org

Press On

As we press on to know God, our relationship with Him grows and we can depend on His response whenever we call out to Him. ~ DickEvans.org

Relationships

We must develop relationships with other believers that last and are deep enough for us to truly meet together; to allow others to not only encourage but to admonish. And we must be willing to meet with others in their times of great need so that we can be there to hold up their arms when they need it most. ~ DickEvans.org

Don't Worry

Jesus says not to worry about tomorrow. He is not telling us to not think about the future. He is not saying that the future will just unfold itself like the pages of a book. He is telling us that no matter what our plans, not to worry about them. He is with us and with Him to guide us, nothing is impossible. ~ DickEvans.org

Turn Back

God has watched us wander off in search of our own thing. He has seen us fall into temptation time and time again. As we turn back from our worldly ways and focus on Him, we will find Him there. ~ DickEvans.org

Comfortable

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Are we comfortable with where we are? We tend to keep doing what we have always done because it is comfortable. But all that we have learned in the past might be leading us astray.

We have relied on past teaching to guide us into our walk with God. We learned all the do's and don't's and work at following them religiously.

Our walk has become religious instead of relational. God doesn't want us to just do what someone else said he wants. He wants us to listen to the Holy Spirit he sent to live in us. Our spirit and his are one.

He who lives in us is greater than he who is the world. We are in Christ and he is in us. He will never leave us or forsake us. The kingdom of God is within us. We are eternal. And the Holy Spirit teaches us all things.

It is time to give thanks for all we learned in the past that brought us to this moment in God. But it is time to let go of a lot of that old programming and build a fuller relationship with him.

We need to stop being comfortable in our knowledge of old. It is time to reach out with open minds and hearts.

It is no longer about rules and traditions. It is about listening to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to lead us daily into all truth.

Believe it!

Counted Righteous

As believers, we are in Christ and He is in us. He calls us to live our lives by faith. We are to look to Him and not our own abilities for all that we do. Living by faith we become justified; we become those that are counted righteous. ~ DickEvans.org

It Take All Of Us

He told us to go into the world and make disciples; to go and show others the way. With the foundation in place and Jesus as the cornerstone, it takes each of us to build the house bigger and stronger every day. Unity is the key. ~ DickEvans.org

You Can

I believe God never gives us a task to do that He does not know we can accomplish. And if He thinks we can, we certainly can. He will give us the understanding we need to accomplish all that He has for us to do. ~ DickEvans.org

Gifts

God gives out spiritual gifts; we all get them. They are written on our hearts and revealed by Holy Spirit. The more we study His Word and practice the gifts He has given us, the better equipped we become and God’s generosity will flow through us to those that we come in contact with each day. ~ DickEvans.org

Understanding

God can speak to us in many ways, but if we are unwilling to hear, even His voice falls on deaf ears. We must be willing and then we must listen. When we hear what He has to say, He will give us the understanding so we can then obey and move forward on the path He has for us to take. ~ DickEvans.org

His Example

Jesus has given us examples of how to deal with most of the difficult situations we face each day. He has shown us how to listen, how to learn, and how to teach. He has given us examples of each including how to use the power and authority every believer has in Him. It is up to us to use it. It is up to us to follow His example. ~ DickEvans.org

Weekend Warrior

Being a soldier for Christ is a day by day commitment. If we just march on Sundays we are just a weekend warrior and not truly ready for battle. ~ DickEvans.org

The Prodigal Son

Luke 15:11-32 
But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him; this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.

His father received him with no mention of what the son had done. His reception was an expression of the unqualified love the father had. Without mentioning the details, the son was totally forgiven and celebrated.

He was lost and now is found. We were lost, too. We where lost living an empty life. Sure we may have been successful in the world system but empty at the same time. We were always searching for something to fill a void without knowing what that void was.

New cars, faraway vacations, exciting movies, nightlife... nothing would bring us happiness and peace except for a short time.

We looked back over our life and regretted some of our past and planned daily for tomorrow even at the expense of living abundantly today.

Then someone introduced us to Jesus. We had heard about Him but did not know we could actually get to know Him.

It was like that prodigal son. We had drifted far from our Father God who knew us before we were born. He even knows the number of hairs on our head.

As we reached out and believed about Jesus, He wrapped His arms around us and sent the Holy Spirit to live in us. We were saved. We were born again

Thank you, Father, for sending Jesus to show us the way. To bring His light into our darkness. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name, we pray. 

Grace

It is through God’s grace that we have been allowed salvation. He did not have to do that for us. Jesus did not have to die on the cross for us. But He did! It is up to us to do our part and walk the walk set before us. ~ DickEvans.org

Choice

We always have a choice. We must choose to listen and choose to obey. As we continue to choose Holy Spirit we continue to graduate to the next level in our walk. ~ DickEvans.org

Listen And Obey

What is important is living life as He directs us, not just knowing what He wants of us and ignoring Him. Jesus came to fulfill the law. He came to show us the way to eternity with Him. He came to take away our sins, forever. Isn’t it time we listened for His voice and followed His commands? ~ DickEvans.org

Work Out

When we became a believer, we became born again. That was the starting point for a life of changes. As we listen for Holy Spirit, Christ within us, and obey His commands, we grow into more and more of His divine nature. As Paul told us, we work out our salvation with fear and trembling. That was “work out” and not “wait for”. ~ DickEvans.org

Others Watch

I don’t know about you, but I must be aware of my walk daily. It is so easy to cross the line in our dealings with others and in our dealings with the law, even the speed limit law. We must be careful for others are watching. What we do as Christians can affect their salvation. ~ DickEvans.org

Preach It

Romans 10:13-14
For "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? (NLT)

We have all been commissioned to preach the gospel message. When we do others can hear the message and those that believe can truly receive. ~ DickEvans.org

It Is Finished

Matthew 6:7 NKJV
And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

I don’t know about you but when hearing a beautiful prayer I seem to get a little intimidated.

But that’s not how I pray.

It’s not about the length of the prayer but the power and the authority behind the words.

After all didn’t Jesus say lay hands on the sick and they will be healed. He didn’t say lay hands on the sick spend 5 to 10 minutes praying over them asking God to do all the things that were accomplished at the cross already and then they will get healed.

Jesus didn’t have long flowing prayers. He said simply be healed and sin no more. Just believe. He laid his hands on blind eyes and when he took them off they could see. He stuck his fingers in deaf ears and when He pulled them out they could hear. No long flowing prayers begging the father.

Jesus also commented about how the Pharisees had these long beautiful prayers.  Jesus said that their prayers glorify themselves and not the father. They were begging prayers and begging is what you did under the old covenant.

Now we’re under the new covenant. Jesus said at the cross it is finished. It’s all finished. No more begging God the father. All has been accomplished.

And yet here we are today enamored by those long prayers that other people pray.

The enemy tries to have us wish we could pray like them.

All we have to do is reach our hand out and take a hold of someone else and the healing power of Jesus enters them. They are healed instantly because as Jesus said it is finished.

The words we say will come from deep within us. They will be the words of Holy Spirit as we practice His presence in us.

Believe it and receive it.

Our Flashlight

Those that God has awakened are drawn to His light and those that are still controlled by the enemy run away or are sent to us to battle. But if we never turn on our flashlight, the light of Jesus, the world will never know Him that is in us. ~ DickEvans.org

Obey

As we go about our business each day, Holy Spirit speaks to us. He guides us into all Truth, but do we listen? And when we listen, do we obey? If we ignore Him, we are only fooling ourselves. ~ DickEvans.org

Healed

God wants us well. He wants us healed. He tells us to confess our sins to each other. He doesn’t want us hide them, but to tell about them. As we do and follow it with earnest prayer, we will see awesome results. - DickEvans.org

Language

Just because society has changed the rules of normal behavior does not mean God has changed His mind. We must refrain from language that is foul. We must take care to not use abusive words to our spouses, our children, or to anyone; let all our words be encouraging words. ~ DickEvans.org

Eyes On The Goal

When our eyes are on the goal instead of the troubles of the day, we can slide right past them into tomorrow. With God all things are possible. The Holy Spirit is right there coaching us and guiding us through each of the trials of this life. ~ DickEvans.org

Believe

He wants all of us, even those that need the proof first. But after we have given our lives to Him, we are to repent and believe by what He reveals to us as we read and study His Word. ~ DickEvans.org

Action Grows

It is more than hearing the truth or reading the truth. Unless we take it to the next step, we are likely to lose it. We must constantly be filling our minds with truth and putting what God has given us into action to grow in Him. ~ DickEvans.org

Tell The Truth

Often those who profess God’s Truth are considered crazy, nuts. The enemy does not want others to believe. He wants people those that tell the Story, that tell the truth, to be pushed away. Don't let him stop you from telling the truth. ~ DickEvans.org

To Die Is Gain

 Philippians 1:21 NIV
 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

 What if this is not speaking to physical death? What if It is speaking to being born again?

 Consider our new life with Jesus because we have the spirit of Christ in us. Our spirit is one with the Holy Spirit who is in us.

 Our old man is dead. In this earthly realm, the body is still here. It looks like we are still alive. Yet God’s word tells us we are alive in the spirit and dead to the old life. The Apostle Paul calls us aliens in this world.

 On this earth, we are a dead man walking. We are alive in Christ.

 1 John 4:4 KJV
 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world

 He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. Trust the truth. Trust in His word.

The Task

We have been given the task of telling others what we have experienced. We have been given the task of going into the world telling the story, the story of what Christ has done for us. We now live to give life to others; to reconcile them to Christ. ~ DickEvans.org
