Instant

Instant access, instant potatoes, instant coffee... we expect to get what we want and get it when we want it. But with God there is no beginning or end. There is no time as we know it here on earth. He fulfills all of His promises and in His time. ~ DickEvans.org

Free from Law

Jesus came to free us from that law by fulfilling it for us. We are no longer under law but are under His Grace. We must be careful not to let any new law come between us and our relationship with Him. Nothing has to stand in our way anymore, ~ DickEvans.org

Be Recognized

Jesus told us to go and preach the gospel, to make disciples. He was speaking to ordinary men and women. And because of the relationship we have with Him, they will recognize us as men and women that have been with Jesus. ~ DickEvans.org

Time to Listen

Sometimes what we want to do for God is not what God has for us to do. How many times were we so busy working at what we wanted that we missed what He was trying to tell us? Let's take the time today to try to understand what the Lord has for us to do. ~ DickEvans.org

In the Darkness

Sometimes as believers we like to live staying only with those that have His light burning inside. It is easy to move around without having to be concerned about the darkness. But it is in the darkness that we can fulfill His commission to us. ~ DickEvans.org

Press On

We need quality time together every day for our relationship with God to grow. As we press on to know Him our relationship with Him grows and we can depend on His response whenever we call out to Him. ~ DickEvans.org

Forgiveness

Colossians 2:13
 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

I believe we as believers are in agreement that we have been forgiven for all sins; past, present, and future. Jesus took them to the cross for each of us, for all mankind, on the cross two thousand years ago. The word tells us that the Father no longer sees our sin, that they are as far away as the East is from the West. The debt we had for our sins has been fully paid.

Under the new covenant as believers there are no strings attached to our forgiveness. Because of Jesus' one act we are all forgiven forevermore. All mankind. All who ask Jesus into their hearts and believe He came to earth as man, was crucified, and rose again on the third day are born again and filled with the holy spirit. But then, 1 John 1...

1 John 1:1-4
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life- 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us- 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.

John was speaking to unbelievers. He was testifying to a life with Jesus. He is speaking to unbelievers telling them there's a way to be cleansed from all unrighteousness. And that is to accept Jesus as their Lord and savior.

Then we go on to 1 John 2 where John is speaking to born again believers:

1 John 2:12  
 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake

Forgiveness came at the cross. We began our walk in it as soon as we believed.

So is it wrong to ask God to forgive us when we do wrong? No, but if we do not it is fine. He has already forgiven them.

Confessing sins does not help us to overcome sin. We don't confess to get rid of sin, we confess to receive grace.

Jesus did not remove our responsibilities for our own actions at the cross. We are subject to the consequences of our actions and our words right here on earth.

Ephesians 4:32 
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

 Go forth knowing all debt for sins you have fell into has been taken care of forevermore. The balance in your account is zero for all time. Show love to all and forgive them of any wrong they have done to you. It is not because you have to, but because this is what love does.

Relationships

We must develop relationships that last and that are deep enough for us to truly meet together; to allow others to not only encourage but to admonish. And we must be willing to meet with others in their times of great need so that we can be there to hold up their arms when they need it most. ~ DickEvans.org

Worry

God says not to worry about tomorrow. He is not telling us to not think about the future. He is telling us that no matter what our plans, not to worry about them. He is with us and with Him to guide us, nothing is impossible. ~ DickEvans.org

Remember

Every morning we should remember that "Jesus is Risen". It is not a once a year event, but a fact that we live each day. For He rose that day after the terrible ordeal of the cross so that you and I could be free from sin and live a victorious life here on Earth and with Him in eternity. ~ DickEvans.org

Answers

As we turn to God’s Word, we find the answers to our unique needs. It shows us what is right and wrong. It straightens out the crooked paths we walk. ~ DickEvans.org

Suddenly

Let God tear down that stronghold that is keeping you from the next step. Bam! Suddenly we will find ourselves doing the impossible. All it takes is trusting in Him, knowing that with God all things are possible. ~ DickEvans.org

Decisions

How often are our children making decisions based on peer pressure instead of through the process of right thinking? As they see us led by that still small voice, led by God to make right decisions based on Truth, they will be more apt to do the same. ~ DickEvans.org

Living Water

John 7:38 NKJV
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."

These words of Jesus became true as the hearers of his words walked out in faith after his death and resurrection. The age of law was replaced with the age of grace and a new covenant was born. He sent the comforter as he had promised to each who believed in him.

As we practice His presence and walk by faith those living waters come forth through us with Holy Spirit demonstrating his power and authority to the world around us.

He is alive to the world because of our faithfulness.

Who We Are

It is not that person in the mirror that we really are. It is the person behind the mirror. It is time to let God transform us so others perception of us is truly us and not who we pretend to be. ~ DickEvans.org

Remain Faithful

We need to put ourselves in the hands of teachers that we know we can trust to teach the truth. Then when we remain faithful to the truth we can have confidence in the outcome. ~ DickEvans.org

Learning

Others don't learn from what we tell them, usually. They learn from what they see us do. They learn by observing our good habits and our bad ones as well. That old cliche "Don't do as I do, do as I say" is how we wish they could learn. But it doesn't work that way. ~ DickEvans.org

Listen

Even in our conversations with God, we tend to speak and not listen. We have our agenda to get through and we do just that. But do we listen to what He has to say to us? ~ DickEvans.org

It is Time

It is time to go forth and take up the great commission. It is time to spread the gospel message and to allow the Holy Spirit to direct our steps daily. ~ DickEvans.org

Misdeeds

No matter what we say and no matter what we do, the Lord is still our rock and our redeemer. He loves us through all the misdeeds that we are a part of as well as through all of our good works.Thank you for loving me right where I am at. ~ DickEvans.org

Grace

Ephesians 2:8 NKJV

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

God's grace has nothing to do with what we do. It has everything to do with what Jesus did at the cross. It is the gift of God. Our only part is to believe. Believe and receive.  

The only way to please the Father is to receive His son. There are no laws to uphold or traditions to follow to please Him. Just believe in Jesus and what He did at the cross.

Our insistence on following our old programming, what we were taught in churches we grew up in, takes us backward. At the cross Jesus said. "It is finished" and He meant it!

Ears to Hear

Father, give me the ears to hear what others are really saying and the wisdom to respond to their words in a way that edifies them and not just my own opinions. In Jesus name. ~ DickEvans.org

Choice

Are the decisions I make each day propelling me towards that goal or away from it? Are the choices I make the right ones? Are they the ones Holy Spirit would have me make? These are the questions I ask of Him as I seek His direction each day. ~ DickEvans.org

Change Me

I pray that God will continue to change me so I can say my interest in this world and its things died long ago. Until then, that I put Him first in my life, for it is that one relationship that I have that can truly change me. ~ DickEvans.org

Praise Him

Be continually singing praises to the Lord, thanking Him for always being there for us; in the good times and in the trials. He is always there ready and eager to intercede for us. ~ DickEvans.org

Time to Do

The time is always now for what God has for each of us to do. This is the place. This is the time. It's our turn. We need to listen to the Father's voice and do what He tells us. ~ DickEvans.org

The Secret

Do you know anyone who is truly alone? I am sure you do. Isn't it time to show them the light? Isn't it time we let them in on the secret? Let them know how they too can do everything through Christ. ~ DickEvans.org

Take a Risk

Hebrews 8:12 NKJV

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more."

The Father no longer sees our sins. They are as far away from Him as the East is from the West. As we grow in our relationship with our Lord we do not have to think "should I do this or that?" We no longer have the desires we first had. No longer is our old sinful self directing our steps.

As born again believers we have the Holy Spirit in us. As risk takers we step out in faith. As we do we become filled with Holy Spirit power and using the authority within we see miracles unfold in front of us. 

Each time we take a risk and step out in faith we receive more and more. We become filled with Holy Spirit power. Knowing this we can freely walk in the spirit more each day and less in the flesh. 

John 4:24 NLT
For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.

Reveal

As our relationship with God grows so does our understanding. As our understanding grows He begins to reveal things to us right out of His Word as we read - it seems to pop right out of the book. ~ DickEvans.org
