Change

John 6:29 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

When we read the Bible and see examples of how we should behave as Christians it's easy to take that from the standpoint of our behavior creates a good relationship with God

It is as though our behavior maintained by our thinking and encouraged by all of the books we read is what creates change in us.

It gets back to works. It is as though through our works we change. And we do so to please God.

The truth is, as we allow Holy Spirit to lead and guide us we change. No longer does our behavior reflect our old thinking. We behave differently because of our relationship with Jesus.

We behave differently because we have changed. That change was not because of what we have done but because of what Jesus did at the cross.

We are new creatures born again in heaven living in this fleshly body. As we continue to walk in the Spirit we become more Christ like. Our mind becomes ever more the mind of Christ.

It is not because of who we were with all our earthly education and experiences. It is because of Jesus and what he did for us.

He set us free and removed us from the bondage of our earthly existence. And now he abides in us and we abide in him.

The only work is for us to believe in Jesus. Walk in it!

The Authority

Mark 7:30 NLT And when she arrived home, her little girl was lying quietly in bed, and the demon was gone.

We each have the right and the authority, in the name of Jesus, to command healing in the body of someone standing right in front of us and in the body of someone else miles away. ~ DickEvans.org

Preach It

Preach the word does not have to mean walking around with our Bible in our hands reading out loud. Preach by being who you are, in Christ. Let Him speak to others because He is in you. ~ DickEvans.org

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Luke 2:10
She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the village inn.

We all are reminded of the story of Jesus' birth each year on this celebration of His birthday; on Christmas. We picture Joseph knocking on the innkeepers door only to discover a No Vacancy sign. They had to seek alternate accommodations.

How often do we hang out the same sign when a believer that is not at the same place in their walk, the place we perceive ourselves to be at, attempts to join our fellowship? Do our actions speak No Vacancy to them?

We say that there are no class distinctions in our society, but how often do we reject those that are not living like we do because they make us uncomfortable? Do our remarks make them seek alternate accommodations?

God wants us to tear down that sign. He wants us to welcome every one of His children. What we do for the least of them, we do for Him. ~ DickEvans.org

The Gift of Christ

Luke 2:11 NKJV
For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

At Christmas the world reminds itself of the birth of Jesus. He is the ultimate gift and we give gifts to others in remembrance of that gift. It is the gift that freed mankind to be born again, born In heaven. The gift of salvation and freedom.

Only the Holy Ghost can set you free. Why is it so hard to walk in the spirit? We already have it all and only have to walk out in the truth of who we are in Christ.

God does not bring things into our life to teach us. Satan brings things to interfere with our walk with Jesus. As we focus on the truth of who we are in Christ we rise above that tribulation.

We can focus on our earthly existence still alive in who we used to be. We can work hard to try and use our own understanding to fix what is wrong. To lean to others in their lectures, sermons, and books. We can work hard to fix what is dead. Or we can walk in who we are in Christ and rise above it all.

We cannot fix ourselves or others. Only the Holy Spirit can help them to understand the choices they need to make. Only He can heal them. We cannot be Holy Spirit for them no matter how right we are.

We use the things we learn to live our life for Jesus rather than to correct others. Our revelation is for our walk. We can share it with others but not use it to try and fix them. Only by the Holy Spirit will that revelation of ours touch their life.

May we truly celebrate Jesus on Christmas Day and every day of the year.

Receive the Upgrade

We are born again. A new creature in christ. An alien to this world, this reality we live in on earth. Our true home is in heaven. We have a new spirit born in heaven, an upgrade of our spirit to the spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit.

Everything Holy Spirit does is about bringing us closer to the revelation of what Jesus has already done. Closer to understanding what was completed at the cross. He wants us to stop trying to figure it out and just believe. As we believe we can receive.

If we can see it completed in our mind's eye then we can believe it and in faith receive it as done.

We have the mind of christ in our spirit and yet we keep thinking with our carnal mind. Our walk here is about getting our carnal mind to think in the spirit. About transforming our mind to think like the mind of Christ. When that happens, our soul and body begin to function as it is in heaven here on earth.

This does not happen with the flick of a switch. I wish it did. It is a daily challenge to die to self, to think with our spirit mind instead of our wrongly programmed mind filled with the malware of life here on earth.

We can fix old programming in our cell phones by simply accepting an upgrade from its maker. In a few minutes time our phone has forgotten the old and only works with the new.

As a born again believer in Jesus Christ, we have the latest program in our spirit. Holy spirit, the mind of Christ is in us. The upgrade to our spirit was completed as soon ad we believed. Oh how I wish the transformation of our soul was as easy.

Our soul is controlled by our mind and our body conforms to that thinking. There is truth to all that positive thinking talk. As a man thinketh so he is. And as we allow Holy Spirit to transform our mind to think as the mind of Christ that is the only way we will think

Our carnal mind says that can't be done or trys to figure it out. Our spirit says it is already done. There is nothing to do but receive it.

How can we make it happen you ask? It is about our free will. Our maker does not force new programming on us. We have to choose.  We chose Jesus and the download was done.  It us up to us to repent of our old programming and allow Holy Spirit to install the changes.

The Vine

John 15:5 NIV
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing

I have heard sermons about how we are grafted into the vine. Joined with Christ. Placed in a vine that was meant for the jews. As gentiles we were allowed a place. But watch out. If we aren't careful we could be removed.

How silly those thoughts are. Even someone as ignorant about plants as I am knows that once grafted in that piece of the plant is stronger than the originals.

When we receive Jesus in our heart as our savior we are grafted in forever. There is nothing we can or cannot do to be removed.

Father God gives us gifts. He grants us salvation and the gift of grace. Once given a gift is never taken back or it would not have been a gift.

Jesus went to the cross and paid our sin debt so we never have to worry again. His forgiveness is forevermore. Nothing we do can take that away. He will never leave us or forsake us.

His gifts are without repentance. (Romans 11:29) We don't earn them and we do not have to do anything to keep them.

He remembers our sin no more. (Hebrews 8:12) Those events in our lives are as far from Him as the east is from the west.

Thank you Father for grafting me into the vine. For your Son abiding in me and me in Him. Thank you for your mercy and grace. And for your everlasting forgiveness. In Jesus name I pray.

Nothing Can Stop Us

It seems to always get back to our own understanding. Our head tells us that we can or cannot do something but our head only knows things based on our experience. If we did it before and were successful, then we feel good doing it again. We need to get our head and our logic out of the way. We need to know that we know that when God tells us to do something there is nothing that can stop us. ~ DickEvans.org

Turn Off

How difficult it is for us to turn off our human logic. Even when the Lord tells us to do something, we can let our own intellect get in the way and try to do something else. Like Peter we can easily attempt to correct God. We can try and tell Him what we think is best. ~ DickEvans.org

Give Grace

Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

As we have received the gift of grace we must also give grace to others and forgive them when they say or do something that could offend us.

Offense nurtured breeds bitterness. Bitterness will kill you. It is a cancer to your soul. With bitterness comes anger. It is not part of our new life in Christ.

God has saved us by grace not by works. We are forgiven. His word tells us that He remembers our sins no more. They are as far away from Him as the east is from the west.

We need to be walking in the spirit not in the flesh. In the spirit we think with the mind of Christ.

As we allow our mind to draw from our old self we pull away from the mind of Christ. We let others offend us and pull us out of the spirit.

Satan works hard to tempt us into those old thoughts tempting us to go back to those things our old self enjoyed. Tempting us back into old relationships.

That life is over. We cannot go back. Our New life is in Christ. He has a path for us to go on. We need to let go of the dead past life and walk in our new life. Let go of those old friends. Stop the lifestyle we lived before Christ.

Father, thank you for showing me the path you have for Me to follow. Thank you for steering me away from the ways of my dead life. Thank you for wisdom and boldness to speak the truth to others. To use me to heal the sick. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Qualifications

We complicate the simple Truths. For hundreds of years mankind has created all kinds of qualifications for following Jesus. Yet it is only through a relationship with Him that we can find the Truth. A Day in the Life of Jesus

John 14:12 NKJV
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

Jesus told us we would do what He did and even greater things. Let's take a look at one such day in His life while on earth.

Mark 6:42-56 NKJV
So they all ate and were filled. And they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish. Now those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men.

Immediately [Jesus] made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away.

And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray.

Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land. Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them.

Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by. And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; for they all saw Him and were troubled.

But immediately He talked with them and said to them, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid." Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased.

And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened.

When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was.

Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.

Each of us are Jesus' arms and feet and mouth today. He is alive in us. As we practice His presence and allow Him to work through us it is not us but Him that reaches the lost and heals the sick.

He lives in each and every born again believer. Don't keep Him locked up inside while you follow the leading of the world. Practice His presence daily. Pray without ceasing. Let Holy Spirit lead as you allow Jesus to flow through you to the world around you.

Greater works are all around us to step into. Remember Jesus' words, "For you will do greater things because of He who is in you."

Performance

God does not look for our performance as a prerequisite to relationship. As He did with Abraham (Romans 4:16), He looks for our faith. All we had to do was exercise little faith and He saved us. He forgave all of our sins (past, present and future) and opened His arms to us. ~ DickEvans.org

Potential

It is time to stop judging others for who they were and start looking at them as Jesus looks at them. He sees their potential not their past. Obey

When we were of the world we ignored our conscious and pushed further in to satisfy our flesh. Then we became a believer and He sent the comforter to guide us in all truth. A Journey in the Invisible

Colossians 2:6-7
And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

We follow Jesus as he leads us by His spirit each day. We are on a journey leading to life everlasting in our new home in heaven.

Are we on a journey of our own making or are we on the journey with He who is in us? He is always with us. Are we looking to Him or to our own journey? Are we too busy to allow Him in?

Out inheritance is right there waiting for us to take it. But we are like a person with a million dollars in an account but not taking advantage of it.

Step into the inheritance Christ has for you. He went to the cross for you and removed your sin debt so you could have your inheritance. Dip into that inheritance and allow Holy Spirit to use you.

Invest your inheritance in others. Share the good news and disciple those who receive Jesus. He will no longer be invisible as you practice His presence in your life daily.

He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion. Our journey is seeing He who is invisible in our daily walk and in others. Allow Him to take us through the circumstances of life.

We do not see him but we see Him. He abides in us. You abide in Him. You know that you know that you know He does. Live it.

Freedom

Galatians 5:1
So Christ has really set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in the law. (NLT)

How many laws do we have in our religions that keep us from the freedom He has for us? He tells us to listen to Holy Spirit and do what He tells us to do. Listen for His lead and follow it. He points the way and we are to go. Go and tell the good news. Tell the story of Jesus to everyone, save the lost and they will lay hands on the sick and see them recover. We must choose to walk forth in that freedom today. ~ DickEvans.org

Rules and laws, Old Testament and New Testament. It can be very confusing. But God does not want us just one or two times a week; on Sunday and a mid-week service. He wants us all the time. He wants all of us all of the time. Isn't it time that we each turned it all over to Him? ~ DickEvans.org

You Got it All

2 Corinthians 1:22 NIV
[He] set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

When you said yes to Jesus you got it all. Holy Spirit is your guarantee You did not just unlock a door. You were born again into a new life. A life with the almighty god. A life lived in a new reality. A life eternal.

With others in the body of Christ, other believers, you walk in the spirit bringing heaven down to earth for others to see and grab onto.

The enemy uses others and our own minds to try to trip us up. To tempt us back into death. Back into those things we were into before we found truth.

Listen to the voice of truth. The comfort of the past is not the way to the path of righteousness. Not the way of truth and life eternal.

No longer are we led by what feels good in the flesh. No longer are we driven to put on a mask of happiness. To be what pleases others.

Instead we are led by Love. Led by the Holy Spirit. Led by the simple knowledge of who we are in Christ. For He abides in us and we abide in Him. We are His temple, the house of God.

The enemy wants us to believe we have to be trained to do what God wants us to do. Who He wants us to become. He uses the church to believe these lies. They set rules about what you have to be in order to pray for others. To teach. To lead others to Jesus.

This may be true for those who are not believers but are just church goers. Carnal Christians. Going to a church does not make us followers of Jesus. Just doing what we think Jesus would do does not make us born again. Rather it is a way to give a false sense of security. A way to make walking in the flesh appear to be walking with God. It does not bring heaven down to earth.

Signs and wonders follow those walking in the spirit not those faithfully following church doctrine. To walk in the the spirit requires His spirit in us. When we practice His presence in us and He leads our every thought and action we are truly walking in the spirit.

Father God, thank you that when I asked Jesus into my heart that I got it all. Show me each day the path you have for me to take. The way of truth. Help me to remain in my new reality driven by your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name I pray.

Miracles Today

Signs and wonders and miracles do occur today. He moves through each of us as mightily as God did through Paul. But it is not you. It is Him. We can be a picture of perfect health and He will use us. The Covenant Confusion

By Dick Evans, www.dickevans.org

There seems to be some confusion among believers as to the old and new covenants. Old Testament is not the same as old covenant. New Testament is not the same as new covenant

The Old Testament is filled with books that take mankind from creation and the first Adam's birth through the period just before Jesus' birth, the second Adam.

The Old Covenant was between the Israelites and Father God. He made it with Moses and chiseled Ten Commandments into stone tablets. It was only between the Israelites and God. It was not a covenant with the rest of mankind.

This was the beginning of the age of law. A time when the law exposed sin to the Jews. The law was their teacher. (Galatians 3:24-26) If they broke a law they knew they had sinned.

Jesus came to fulfill the law and He brought a new covenant to replace the old. And this new covenant was for all mankind not just the Jews.

Luke 22:20 NKJV
Likewise [Jesus] also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you."

Jesus spoke to his disciples about a new covenant in his blood. He was declaring his last will and testament, a new covenant that would come into effect when he died.

Hebrews 9:15 NKJV
And for this reason [Jesus] is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

All but the last couple of chapters in the four gospels were set under the old covenant. Jesus walked the earth in the age of law. It was after Jesus' death, burial, and resection that the new covenant replaced the old.

From that point forward we have walked in the age of grace. Each believer is given the Holy Spirit at the time of their belief in Jesus. Their spirit is born again in heaven. They become a citizen of heaven. They are an alien to this evil world. Who they once were Is dead and they are alive in Christ. (Romans 8:10)

Although Jesus tells us the only work is to believe in Him (John 6:28-29), our commission is clear.

Mark 16:15-18
And [Jesus] said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

The Holy Spirit, the spirit of Christ is in us. Jesus resides us. (1 John 4:19) We have all his authority and all his power and all his anointing. As we allow him to use us, he comes upon us and performs signs and wonders and we see miraculous events transpire in front of our eyes. Even though our words and our hands.

Know who you are in Christ. Practice His presence and watch Him move in mighty ways through you. Just Believe.

Go Tell

We are let others be drawn in so we can be a positive force to them but not to partner with them. We are to be in the world but not of the world. We are to go and tell our story, tell the story of Jesus and what He has done in our lives. ~ DickEvans.org

Change

The true evidence of being a believer, a Christian, is change. When we accept Jesus into our hearts and ask Him to be our Lord and Savior, we become a new person, alien to this old body of ours. We are not the same anymore and others notice the subtle changes in us. Sometimes the change is dramatic. ~ DickEvans.org

We can't talk people out of what they are in the middle of. No, we have to lead them to Jesus and He will guide them to all truth. So it is time to stop preaching to the problem. It is time to preach the ultimate solution, the only true solution, the message of Jesus. ~ DickEvans.org

The Veil

When unbelievers are ready to hear the message, they hear it. Wise words cannot convince them. It is when the veil is lifting, perhaps a corner exposed, that they can smell the perfume of the Lord when they are in our presence. And when they say those words asking Jesus into their heart, the veil is ripped off and their new life begins. Who did you ask today? ~ DickEvans.org

Worth

True riches are not in the things we have or the trips we take. They are not in what the neighbors think our net financial worth is. Our true worth is in our relationship with God. Have we accepted His son as our Lord and Savior? Are we a true believer? For it is in that transformation walk that we will find our true reward. ~ DickEvans.org

Best Teacher

The best teacher is the Lord. When we became a believer, He sent the Holy Spirit to live in our hearts and comfort us, guide us and teach us. Isn't it time we turned off the world and took time to listen? ~ DickEvans.org

Freedom is for Now

Galatians 5:1
So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law.

I love to hear the old hymns. They have a presence with them. Singing them brings you to a place close to the Lord.

However, many of the old gospel songs are about how glorious it will be someday. What about how glorious God wants it to be right now?

He saved us to be free. To be Holy. To be righteous. Not to wait for freedom in the everlasting. We are to be free right now.

So perhaps we should stop singing about what will be. Let's rejoice in today. Let's rejoice in His perfect presence in our lives here and now.

Relationship

God wants all of us. He has a plan. So let's stop fooling ourselves. It is not what others perceive us to be that counts; what they see on the outside. It is what He knows us to be; on the inside. It is about our relationship with Him. ~ DickEvans.org

Circumstances

If we are so wrapped up in our circumstances how can we see the light, the open door that He has for us to take us out? When we let the circumstances control our very existence, haven't we turned away from God and to our own understanding? ~ DickEvans.org

His Light

As you and I walk out into the world each day, we take His light into dark places. Others see it. Those that have known us before see a difference. Those that do not know us are drawn in and do not know why. But when God calls they sense it. When they sense it they find that little faith. The seed of faith that was planted in them from creation awakens and they begin to water it. So Go into the world and be that light today. ~ DickEvans.org

Forget

Father God wiped out our sins from His memory, but we keep the old fires burning. (Hebrews 10:17) Isn't it time that we got with the program? If He can forgive why can't we? If He can forget, why can't we? ~ DickEvans.org

Grace and Sin

Hebrews 8:12 NIV
For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.

Our sin is forgiven forever. Grace covers us when we sin. And yet our lives are to be holy as He is holy. How can that be if we continue to sin? You see, Jesus went to the cross so our sins would be forever forgiven. He did not go to remove all sin. Sin is still here and it is our choice to walk in sin or in righteousness daily.

As we walk with Christ we build our relationship with Him. There is no sin in Him and when we continue to walk in sin we do not get as close as we could to Him.

He is looking for a pure clean bride. As we sin we remain dirty. He still loves us. He still covers us with His blood. He still protects us. We still walk in His grace. Yet we know we want to be closer to Him. To do that we cannot continue to walk in known sin. To walk as a carnal Christian instead of who we are in Christ, instead of walking in the spirit, in our renewed mind.

What we look at on our computers may be hidden from the world but He knows. It is sin. What we do behind closed doors may not be visible to others. But He knows because He is in us. He forgives our sin and yet He knows our sin.

Lord help me to be a pure bride. Help me to not remain in the sinful positions I have allowed in my life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Visible

The Internet is a great way to communicate today. But we must stop hiding behind it because God wants us visible to His people. The world needs more than what they can see on Facebook. They need flesh and blood to disciple them. It is time to move out into the world among the people as Jesus' disciples did. Go out two by two and touch the people one at a time. Go outside of your comfort zone. ~ DickEvans.org

Meat

How often do we attend church service on Sunday expecting to hear a message that digs deep into us; a message that is a catalyst for growth? And how often do we feel comfortable with the milk that is served instead? To get meat we have allow Holy Spirit to take us out of the box, out of our comfort zone. ~ DickEvans.org

His Word

As each believer reads the Word of God it speaks to him or her to communicate a need for the present time. It opens up things occurring in us that need to be worked on, need to be judged by us and taken care of. As we read the same passage over again at a later date it may open up an entirely different issue in us to be exposed and dealt with. ~ DickEvans.org

His Promises

2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

I recently saw this quote on Social Media: "It is impossible to walk with God without patience. It is required to receive His promises."

First of all, I believe that patience is not about waiting. It is about what we do while we wait. And the Great Commision does a good job showing us what we are to do. We are to go... (Mark 16:15-18)

I believe thinking we are required to wait to receive His promises is old covenant thinking. Under the new covenant, all His promises are yes and amen. The only work is to believe in the one the Father sent. (John 6:29) There is no longer any "if" to walk in any promise. Jesus fulfilled it all at the cross.

No longer are we burdened with having to "do" to receive. We walk in the age of grace not law. The promised inheritance is ours. The only thing stopping us from receiving every promise is us. Nothing is impossible with God. (Matthew 9:26) Just receive. (Matthew 21:22) Walk in it.

Father God, thank you for sending Jesus. Thank you, Jesus, for all you have done for us. Thank you for fulfilling the law so we would no longer be under its burden, For paying our sin debt and freeing us forevermore.

Warned

Dig

We cannot just listen once to the truth. We must dig into His word and hear it over and over and over again. We have to pursue it. ~ DickEvans.org

Oaths

God's Word tells us never to take an oath. (James 5:12) And that oaths are openings for the enemy to slide in. That is not what I want to happen to me. I want all those doors closed. I want to abide in His Word in my life. ~ DickEvans.org

Marriage

2 Corinthians 11:1-3 NLT
I hope you will put up with a little more of my foolishness. Please bear with me. For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God himself. I promised you as a pure bride to one husband-Christ. But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.

We are the sons and daughters of God. We are the bride of Christ. And He is grooming us to be a pure bride without a spot or blemish for our wedding day with Him.

Speaking of a wedding and therefore marriage. It is wonderful to live in America where husbands and wives live under Biblical principles.

Ephesians 5:24-26 NLT
As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God's word.

A marriage succeeds when those principles are followed. When they each treat each other with love and respect. When each realizes that their happiness together is not 50-50. That each is 100% responsible for the outcome.

I can't imagine living in another area of the world where wives are treated like servants created to serve their masters...their husbands.

In Christ, we are all equal. Male and female. In heaven as well. Made to worship the Father in all we do now and forevermore.

Testify

We testify to what God did in our life. We do so as encouragement to others around us, as a way of teaching others that they can minister to others as well. We are testifying to what God is doing not what we are doing. Thank you, Jesus, for showing your Love for others through me. ~ DickEvans.org

Be a Doer

Jesus told us to “Love each other. Just as I have loved you”. Each day as we walk into the world we need to keep those words in the forefront of our mind. Our Growth

Our growth as a Christian isn't about knowledge. It is about relationship. Our knowledge of His Word grows because of who we are in Him and not which church we attend or what books we read. The Battle

2 Chronicles 20:15
...For the battle is not yours, but God's.

Why are some seemingly in a constant battle with Satan? Why can't they receive all the cross affords them? They seem more focused on satan than on their relationship with Jesus. They are seeing satan's presence in everything instead of practicing the presence of Jesus in their lives.

Are they opening doors for Satan to send his demons through to bring temptation, deceive, and raise havoc in their lives? Each time we sin we are making a place for him to march through.

Sin is like a magnet to demonic activity. As we walk away from the presence of God in our lives the enemy is drawn to us. It is up to us to renounce these attacks and get into the right relationship the cross allows us to have.

If we are walking with Jesus, living in Christ, satan cannot come against us because He who is in us is stronger. We are not to be battling satan. In Christ, there is no battle, for the battle is His and not ours.

Reflection

God knows everything, even about us. But in this earthly realm, we only see what our human eyes reveal. A New Creature

2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new
.

We are not who we were. We are born again. We cannot sin because we are in Christ. That is the reality of our salvation. The dead man. Who we were is not in our new reality. In that reality, we are subject to all the old feelings and past choices.

Christ wants us to remain in Him. It is where we have freedom. Where we only see Jesus and His kingdom. And yet we dabble in the old reality every day. Sometimes our entire day is spent there. We try to solve everything by ourselves leaning to our own understanding.

We take credit for all the good that happens and blame the devil or someone else when our choices cause conflict or problems for us. It seems that we often only look to our new reality when we can't do it on our own. When all else fails, we remember who we are in Christ and step into that reality.

If only we could convince our self to stay there. When we practice His presence and walk out in the new reality all goes according to God's plan. The defeated Satan no longer has any effect on us.

Father God help me to stay in this new reality. To walk out as the born again believer I confess to be. To spend my days in Christ. In Jesus name, I pray.

Excitement

When God first called us, when we first received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior there was nothing we would not do to tell the world what just happened. God is Not Disappointed

Hebrews 4:16 NLT
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Thank you, Father God for your mercy and grace. For your unmerited favor in our lives. For your unconditional love.

My dog is a faithful companion. She has been with me for over fifteen years. She loves me unconditionally. When I leave her too long or forget to feed her on time it does not change her love for me. Even when I have to go away for days and leave her with someone else, she does not waver in her love for me. I am never a disappointment to her.

We tend to watch what we do and say because we do not want to disappoint God. Because of His grace, we cannot disappoint Him. He no longer sees our transgressions. He views us through His son, Jesus.

We try our best to be who we Want Him to see us as. And because we are born again the things of our past no longer become a desire for us to do. If we fall to temptation it does not remove His love or grace from us.

Daily, Holy Spirit is helping us become more and more Christ like in our thoughts, our words, and our actions. Helping us to put temptation out and stay focused on Him.

As we grow in Christ our desires for the old ways lessen as we become more like Him in our thoughts and actions.

Help me to grow closer to You Lord. Mold me into the example of Jesus you have for me to become. Help me stay focused on you in all I do. Thank You for never seeing me as a disappointment to you. In Jesus name. Amen.

Are we willing to sacrifice an extra thirty minutes of sleep so we can get up early and spend time with Him? Are we willing to make time at lunch to go off by our self and get immersed in His Word? Are we willing to spend that last fifteen minutes with Him in prayer instead of listening to the news on television? Are we willing? ~ DickEvans.org

Get Rid of Sin

Romans 7:18-19
For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing.

One day we called on Jesus name and asked for His forgiveness and to have Him come into our heart and save us. We are born again believers in Jesus Christ.

We cannot get rid of sin. But the Lord will help us get through it.

Sin is the result of giving in to Satan and his path which is designed to take us away from the path God has for us.

Jesus died not to take us away from sin. He died so we could be free from the penalty of sin. We are free forever. We are forgiven forevermore.

As believers who have Holy Spirit in us, we have no desire to sin anymore. And yet there we find ourselves, day after day. We know what we should do but we don't.

Thank you, Jesus, for forever forgiving us. For there is no longer a penalty when we miss it. All we need to do is realize what we did and put our gaze back on Jesus. Put ourselves back on the path He has for us.

He saved us not to get rid of sin. He saved us from the penalty of sin. Thank you, Jesus.

Changed

As believers, we should be changing and others should notice the difference in our lives. We aren’t a better believer because of the number of seminars we attend or the number of books we read. Influence

Sometimes in our efforts to reach out to serve others we can put our self in a dangerous place. We may position ourselves in a place that makes it easy for satan to tempt us right back into the sin that we thought we had dealt with. I believe if we cannot be a stronger influence on someone else than they are to us, we should keep our distance from them so we don't to fall into that same temptation again. ~ DickEvans.org

In Jesus Name

1 Corinthians 8:6 NIV
There is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

We all are familiar with the Lord's Prayer. The disciples asked Jesus how to pray and He gave them an example. We pray to the Father beginning by exalting Him and then thanking Him and then asking Him for what we desire. Although it can be repeated as a rout prayer, I do not believe this was Jesus intention.

And Jesus gave them this prayer while they were still under the law; under the old covenant. So part of the prayer asks the Father for forgiveness. Under the new covenant born again believers are covered by the grace of God. Jesus took all our sins forevermore at the cross. Our debt is paid in full.

So instead of asking for forgiveness in our prayers perhaps we should be thanking Him for having already forgiven us and asking Him to show us how to forgive others as He forgave us.

I pray to the Father in the name of Jesus. After all, Jesus told us that whatever we asked for that was in the will of the Father would be granted when we used His name, the name of Jesus.

He knows our heart, but I believe praying to Jesus in your name is not what Jesus told the disciples. I pray always in the name of Jesus. Yes, Jesus is part of the Godhead. Yes, we serve a triune God. They are one and they are separate.

The Father sees us through the eyes of His Son, Jesus. And He sees us as perfect in Christ. The word tells us that we abide in Jesus and He in us. When we were born again we were given the Holy Spirit, the spirit of Christ, to live in us. Not the Trinity. Our spirit is one with Holy Spirit and through that union we become filled.

I give thanks to our Father God for all He has done for us. Thank you, Lord Jesus that you saved us. That we are born again. That you had the Father send the Holy Spirit to live in us. To comfort us. To teach us all things. To guide us in our daily walk.

Our Conscience

1 Corinthians 4:4
My conscience is clear, but that isn't what matters. It is the Lord himself who will examine me and decide. (NLT)

While my computer is on there is a background job running that checks to see if any of the files I attempt to open or the email that I receive contains a known virus. To be certain that the program always has a current set of virus definitions, it also checks in with the company that created the program to automatically download the up to date set. It does this in the background as well.

When it finds a file that appears to be infected, I have to choose to use it or lose it. I make the ultimate choice. It is a warning to me of potential danger. I can heed the warning or ignore it. Ignoring it opens me up to possible data loss and hours of reconstructing my hard disk.

I believe that our conscience works in much the same manner. It is a built in mechanism that runs in the background, in our sub-conscience. It sifts through all the experiences of our past and all our decisions and the results of those decisions to determine if what we are about to do is good or bad. We seem to know in advance when we are treading on dangerous ground. But all it is is a warning mechanism. We make the choice to go or not go.

Sometimes we think of this as the Holy Spirit guiding us, but is He? All persons have a conscience that was loaded before we were born. The updates came from our life experiences and our decisions. That is why a child seems to know right from wrong better than some adults we know.

When we become believers, He sends the Holy Spirit to live inside of us. Holy Spirit, also known as Christ within, is there to comfort us, to encourage us, and to instruct us. He is not our conscience. We must now learn to listen to Him for our guidance.

Through Us

Jesus gave us the Great Commission. To execute it we must be in the presence of non-believers. The changes inside give us the ability to reach those that have been around us for years; those that we work with and those that we have spent our non-working time with. He wants us to continue on as we were. Then others will come to know Him through us. ~ DickEvans.0rg

Wisdom

No matter how wise we get, there is nobody on earth that even approaches the wisdom of God. He is all knowing. As we ask Him for wisdom each day He will give it to us. As He gives it and we apply it, our level of wisdom rises a little more. ~ DickEvans.org

Holy Spirit

When we become believers, He sends the Holy Spirit to live inside of us. Holy Spirit, also known as Christ within, is there to comfort us, to encourage us, and to instruct us. He is not our conscience. We must now learn to listen to Him for our guidance. The choice is always ours to make however it is to our benefit for us to use the Godly input that Holy Spirit supplies. ~ DickEvans.org

Universal Translator

Before I was born again, I would read my Bible and not get much out of it. As Spirit filled believers, we have that universal translator. We have God’s Spirit within. Our spirit understands what God’s spirit is saying. The Holy Spirit reveals these truths to us. ~ DickEvans.org

Serve Others

We are to serve others and to encourage them in the faith. In doing so we must be considerate of their beliefs for if our actions make them stumble into what they believe is sin we are not serving them. If we are not serving others, we are not serving God. ~ DickEvans.org

Do Not Argue

When we argue with another Christian about what we know to be right, are we not playing the role of the Holy Spirit for that person? It is the Holy Spirit’s job, not ours, to convict and to unfold the truth. He will do it in a way and at a time that the person can grow. Our efforts to correct them may do more to hold them back from receiving from the Holy Spirit than help them to truly grow in Christ. ~ DickEvans.org

A New Reality

2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We are not who we were. We are born again. We no longer desire to sin because we are in Christ. That is the reality of our salvation. The dead man. Who we were is not in our new reality. In that former reality, we are subject to all the old feelings and past choices. Christ wants us to remain in Him. It is where we have freedom. Where we only see Jesus and His kingdom.

And yet we dabble in the old reality every day. Sometimes our entire day is spent there. We try to fix everything by ourselves leaning to our own understanding.

In Jesus name, I pray

Potential

When God has a task for us to do, He does not look at our worldly training or experience. He does not require a certain degree before selecting us. He knows our potential. He knows better than we do what we are capable of accomplishing. If He calls us out to perform a task, no matter how difficult or impossible it may seem, we can do it. He will give us whatever is needed to see it through. ~ DickEvans.org

Tempted

Changing Churches

When God is teaching us, He may be moving us from one place to another in our thinking. We must be ready to let that happen. Instead, some switch churches because they are uncomfortable with what God is revealing to them through the messages they hear. It is not about what we desire to learn, but what He has to reveal to us. ~ DickEvans.org

New DNA

When we ask Jesus into our heart, we become born again. No longer are we born of flesh alone. Our spiritual DNA is changed and we start the journey of becoming Christ like. The law is to be lived by, but we no longer are judged by it. We have already been made right; already accepted just as we are. ~ DickEvans.org

His Plan

The first step to success is in understanding that it is God’s plan we are to work on, not ours. And to get started we need to realize that He won’t get us to the next step until we can accept things just the way they are. It is then that He places into motion the next phase of His plan. ~ DickEvans.org

When we look around at all that God has given us, there is so much to sing about. There is so much to proclaim. He has even commissioned each and every believer to preach the gospel message to the entire world; to save the lost. Let’s tell everyone about the amazing things He does. ~ DickEvans.org

Distraction

John 8:44 NLT
For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

The enemy is a master of distraction. He is a liar and a thief. And yet we can be so in need of direction in our life that we may be seeing his distraction as our direction.

Are we letting the enemy convince us that the path we are taking is from God? Is the direction from Him or is the enemy pulling us away from our destiny?

How do we know the difference? I believe all the things we need to solve any question can be found in God's word. The more we read His word the more we understand Him and truth. The more we understand Him the easier it is to know what is from Him and what is from the deceptive tongue of the enemy or the temptations of our past still surfacing from our memories.

God will not take us down a path that leads us away from the truth. He will not have us doing things that distract us from Him.

God wants all of us all the time. Anything that takes us away from our path to Him is a distraction. And when we are looking to someone or something other than Him we are in sin.

Under grace, the Father does not see our sin, but as born again believers our desires are to do what we know to be right in His eyes. He loves us regardless and has already forgiven us of our indiscretions.

Yet every indiscretion opens a crack in us that satan can use to slip in something of his -- sickness, depression, anxiety, pain, stress, and more.

We need to be careful of our choices and know that they line up with God's word and are not simply distractions no matter how good they may feel.

Father, help me to discern when I'm walking down a path of distraction instead of in the direction you have for me. Pull me away from the distraction before it leads to destruction. In Jesus name, I pray.

Living Life

Philippians 4:9 NLT
Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.

The Bible is not a rulebook for living life. It is a book of examples to live by, examples of a Christ centered life. We live in the age of grace and are led by a loving Holy Spirit. We follow Him because we love Him, not because we are afraid of what God will do if we don't.

We follow the examples of those we read about and learn from them because we are a new creature, born again into the Kingdom of Heaven. No longer are we led away by the evil one who attempts to pull us to and fro. With our eyes on Jesus, we are secure in our salvation.

Father God, help me today to follow the examples you have provided in Your Word. Help me to listen to Holy Spirit and follow His lead in all I do. In Jesus name, I pray.

Blameless

When we trust in Jesus our sins are taken away as far as the east is from the west. No matter how bad our sins have been, no matter what family or race or country we come from. It does not matter. Each of us comes from sin and each starts our Christian walk blameless in His sight. ~ DickEvans.org

When I sit down to do the bills each month it amazes me how much I spend on items like cable television, internet access, cell phones, and DVD rentals. Imperfect Vessels

1 John 4:13 ESV
By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.

The Lord working through us has nothing to do with who we are or what we have been doing. For him to minister through us is not a reward for our good behavior. It is the result of our practicing his presence in allowing him to work through us.

It is a choice that we make for he is already in us. His word tells us that he abides in us and we abide in him. He wants to use our hands for touching, our feet for going where he has for us to go, and our mouth to speak the words he has for others.

He's not looking for perfect vessels. After all, the only perfect vessel was Jesus himself as he walked the earth. As we practice his presence and choose to allow him to work through us the miraculous happens. Healing occurs. Prophetic words come out of our mouth. Words of knowledge come forth.

It has nothing to do with our being prayed up, fasting, or being in praise and worship all day. All of those things are good, but it is about who is in us and not who we are.

He can take us at our lowest point and use us in a miraculous way. All it takes is our choice to follow him. This vessel is imperfect. But as we allow him to use us and as we allow Holy Spirit to change us we become more and more Christlike. We take on more and more of the mind of Christ. And we release more and more of our old life to God.

Father God, allow Jesus to work through me today.

Reflection

Christ is in us and as we walk forth how we come across to others reflects Christ to them. Waiting

John 6:29 NKJV
Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."

How many are waiting for God to do something for them? How many are waiting for Him to perform something for them? How often I hear the words, "in God's time" or "He is a last minute God".

These may have been true under the old covenant when mankind lived in fear of retribution if they did not please a God who gave and took away. They begged Him and then waited for Him to work on their behalf.

Then came Jesus. The game changed. The law was replaced with grace. No longer do we have to beg God and wait for "His timing".

Jesus went to the cross and carried all the burdens of mankind forever on Himself. He died for us so we could live in total freedom. Freedom from sickness, disease, curses, even sin forevermore.

What is our price for that? The only thing we have to do is believe in He who the father sent. Believe in Jesus and what He did for us at the cross. Our freedom is free, bought and paid for by Jesus.

So we are not waiting on God. We are waiting on our belief to line up with what He has already done.

We need to cross over from walking in our old programming that says we have to do something to please God. Cross over to walking in the truth. The truth that our debt has been fully paid.

Practice His presence daily walking in the spirit that gives life and not in the flesh that bends to old programming, to our feelings, to satisfying our fleshly needs.

Father God loves us unconditionally. His grace is ever present and all we have to do is reach for it. We are in Christ and He is in us. We are the righteousness of Christ. We are Holy because He is Holy.

Lord, help me to walk in this truth. Help me to be the person I was born again to be.

Power

As Spirit filled believers we have been given authority and power. Jesus said we would do even greater things than He had done. That does not come from knowing how to speak so that others follow. The power comes as we step out and obey the Holy Spirit; as we do what He asks of us. ~ DickEvans.org

Truth

There is only one truth and the Holy Spirit leads us right to it. Jesus tells us “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” If the words we hear are not lining up with His words, with the Word of God, then we must close our ears and move on. ~ DickEvans.org

His Words

When we become a believer and receive the Holy Spirit, He wants to fill our mouth with spiritual truths; He wants us to speak the words He gives us. Turn it Over

Prosperity

3 John 2 NKJV
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Prosperity is something we think of when we're lacking in finances. Yet Prosperity is an overabundance of anything.

May we prosper as our soul prospers. This is not about money. Our soul prospers as we walk this Christian walk. As we renew our minds and start walking as Jesus walked, the soul prospers as it becomes more and more like our spirit. Like the Holy Spirit.

And prosperity could be in finances, but not finances to get that big TV set. Not to purchase things. Not to keep up with our neighbors. Our soul prospers has it begins to think and act out of our spirit rather than out of our flesh.

Jesus died on the cross so we could walk in Prosperity. So we could walk debt free. So we could walk in complete health. So we could be certain not only of our heavenly destination but that we could walk totally unencumbered while here on earth. So we could walk in all the promises of God. So we can have prosperity in the here and now.

Ready

As believers, we are to go into the world and preach the gospel. But not everyone we tell believes, even when press on in our enthusiasm. Not everyone we tell is able to hear the truth. Treasures

When we received Christ, we also received all the treasures. So we have the treasure chest; all we need is the key to unlock it. The key is the Holy Spirit and all we need to do is listen. The Driver

When we were born into God’s family, when we asked Jesus into our heart, He came to live in us. The Holy Spirit lives in each and every one of us who believe. If we let Him do the driving, we cannot sin because He does not sin. Isn’t it time to put Him in charge? ~ DickEvans.org

Blessings of God

1 Peter 3:9 NIV
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

God's blessings are all around us. His promises throughout the Bible are ours because of what Jesus did on the cross. They are yes and amen.

But why, do you ask, do bad things happen to me? And to others. It is not that His blessings are not there for us to grab hold of. No, it is because of our sin as we walk this earthly walk.

Yes, the Father does not see our sin. Satan does. And this opens up doors for him to send his demons in to disrupt our lives causing chaos and sickness.

Too often as Christians, we get caught up thinking about His mercy and His grace. Yes, His grace is upon us. Our sins are forgiven and remembered no more. We live under grace. His mercies are new every morning. He loves us unconditionally.

This does not give us a license to sin even though God does not see us doing so. Satan does. So the straighter the walk we walk, the more sinless walk we walk, and the closer we walk with Him.

What is sin? It is anything that takes our focus away from God in our walk with Jesus. Anything that is not filled with His love as we interact with others is sin.

Although we are not bound to them for our salvation or to live under God's grace the Ten Commandments and the Old Covenant laws are good guides for living our lives free from sin.

As the apostle Paul said about living under grace, we do what we know we should not even though we know what we should. And we know what we should not because we know God's word and what is right and what is wrong.

Lord help me to stop doing what I want because it feels good; because it satisfies my flesh. Help me to walk the walk you have for me, the walk Holy Spirit attempts to guide me into each day. Shield my thoughts so that I can only feel what You feel and see what You see and want what You want. In Jesus name, I pray.

Believe without Proof

John 6:29 NLT
Jesus told them, "This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent."

I remember an old saying that the proof is in the pudding. I believe it means that you can talk about it all you want but the proof is in the results. If you are making a pudding then the proof of your success is in how it tastes.

So you go to school for years and come out with a piece of paper. That does not prove your success in what you studied. The application of what you learned will bring the success. Many learn but fail using what they have learned.

It is not about proving; it is about believing. And yet many spend their entire lives looking for proof of who Jesus is and proof of what is written in scripture.

With God all things are possible because of who He is and not because of what we know or do.

God is not looking for us to prove He is real. He is looking for us to have faith that He is who His word says He is.

God does not work in fear or feelings. He works in faith.

Jesus will be whatever you need Him to be as long as it lines up with the word of God. With Him the pudding always tastes good. Just believe.

Doctrine

John 6:29 NKJV
Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."

Doctrine to me is another word for rules or law. Each church has them. And many attendees do not even know what they are. The do's and don'ts to be considered a faithful member.

And yet God's word tells us that the only work is to believe in He who the Father sent. Jesus fulfilled the law (Matthew 5:17) and in this age, under this new covenant, we are under God's grace. (Romans 6:14)

Each of us is different even though we are the same. The same because we are born again believers, Christ abides in us. (1 John 4:13) Different because no two of us are alike. Even twins are different.

How we minister depends not on a technique we learn from others experiences. Rather it depends on listening to Holy Spirit and finishing the work of the Father. (John 4:34)

We each have things in us that need to be removed. But the order of removal and even the time of recognition varies. For one it might be an addiction to alcohol. Others might have a lustful spirit. Or maybe overeaters. Some use foul language.

But even with all those demons involved, God will still use us to finish what He has begun. You see, it is not about this dead man. It is about who is alive in us. Holy Spirit will come upon us to minister to God's children.

If we had to wait for all our issues to be resolved first, no one would ever minister. There was only one perfect man and He is in us. As we die to self and allow Him to work through us miracles can happen. Words of wisdom will come forth. Prophecy will pour out. Healing will happen.

So it does not matter how long we have been saved. It does not matter if we have received our prayer language. It does not matter if we have not figured out yet that we have to leave some long-time friends behind for a while. No. What matters is that we listen to Holy Spirit and allow Him to come upon us to minister to His people. To practice His presence and see what He will do through us.

We must be careful not to use our experiences in God to create a doctrine for others to live by. Just because God did it that way using us does not mean it will work for anyone else.

Holy Spirit teaches us all things. (John 14:26) Maybe it is time we listen to Him instead of ingesting all we can from others. Reading about the experiences of others does not help transform our mind to the mind of Christ. Change occurs as we listen to Holy Spirit and look to the word of God to reveal truth to us.

"Father God help me to hear your voice. Open my mind to the truth in your word. Open my heart to be more like You. Renew my mind. Transform me. In Jesus name, I pray."

He Speaks

God can speak to us in many ways, but if we are unwilling to hear, even His voice falls on deaf ears. We must be willing and then we must listen. When we hear what He has to say, He will give us the understanding so we can then obey and move forward on the path He has for us to take. ~ DickEvans.org
